If you want to buy genuine Khmer souvenirs and learn more about the expert craftsmanship of Cambodian traditional handicrafts, Artisans d’Angkor is a great choice. This training center, which is situated along Stung Thmey Street, was founded in 1998 to give poor youngsters between the ages of 18 and 25 free vocational training in ancient Angkorian art forms.Over 1,000 local craftsmen are employed by the 13 workshops, and all proceeds from the sale of handicrafts, textiles, and home goods are used to support the program’s training initiatives. The fact that every silk painting in this exhibit is made by young deaf women under the supervision of Krousar Thmey NGO, a charity dedicated to helping underprivileged children in Cambodia, is one of its most distinctive qualities.
