Wat Bak Kam is situated at the foot of Tbeng mountain in Bak Kam village, Chhien Muk commune, Tbeng Meanchey district, around 17 kilometers west of the provincial town. The pagoda spans 1,000 meters in length and 400 meters in width, offering a scenic view, surrounded by forest and providing fresh air all year round. Local villagers often visit the site during holidays or national festivals. Next to the pagoda, there is a large rock known as Thma Peung Angkam (Thma Peung means overhanging rock and Angkam means chaff). According to local folklore, during a past war with a neighboring country, a Khmer commander and his troops hid under that rock after their defeat. They cultivated rice in a nearby field to sustain themselves, husking the rice under the rock and leaving the chaff behind. This is how the place came to be called Thma Peung Angkam. The rock is also believed to be an important site for worship.
